Thor and Lokitty is an ongoing and
unfinished adpatation of various Norse
myths with the characters reimagined
as cats with some other differences.
The story represented in the first four
painted gouache spread is How Thor and
Loki Befooled Thrym the Giant.
The existing material created for this project
was started for a book project for a narrative
illustration class. I have a love for both cats and
Norse mythology, so I wanted to combine the
two into a story adaption. This came to be the
four painted gouache spreads along with
sketches for the rest of the book. I wanted it
to be humorous while still keeping the tone
of the original story. I'd like to create a
continuation of this project in the future that
will be drawn from this original art and idea,
but in a more comic/graphic novel style
as well as having more original writing
as this version of the writing is mostly only
an edited version of the myth from the book
Nordic Gods and Heroes by Padraic Colum.
